Henrico County Regional Jail West
Henrico County Regional Jail West, established in 1980, is the headquarters to the Sheriff’s office, court services, human resources, and administrative services.
In 1996, Henrico Jail – West, went through major expansion. It houses both pre-trial and post-trial inmates – it is also a maximum security facility. Intake and Release Booking section uses imaging technology in with the processing and releasing of inmates.
Services offered at Henrico County – West:
Jail staff assist with a array of programs available to the inmates. Programs such as recreation, religious services, visitation, mail delivery, laundry, mental health/substance abuse services, as well as education.
Programs include, but not limited to: Parenting classes, GED Preparation/testing, Group counseling,
Non-consecutive jail sentencing: referred to as weekends, is authorized by the court.
Work Release: a program granted by the court, and is a privilege – violation of this program can result in a person’s removal, and possible criminal charges – 53.1-131 of the Code of Virginia. The work released program allows a person to go to work each day, and after work report back to the jail.
